Assessment Criteria

Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

The overall proposal, project description and the degree to which the application:

  • Encompasses the core values of Saint John of God Hospitaller Services of Hospitality, Compassion, Excellence, Respect and Justice.
  • Illustrates value for money: for all applications perceived value for money of your request will be taken into consideration.
  • Describes the impact of research/innovation outcomes: how will the proposal ensure the maximum impact.
  • Illustrates the quality of research/innovation:  how is the proposal creative and innovative in addressing psychosis in adult mental health.

Assessment process

Applications submitted go through a three stage assessment process.

1.  The Professor Eadbhard O’Callaghan Memorial Bursary Committee 

The application will be screened to check that it meets the basic eligibility criteria. Any further information required will be requested at this stage.

2.  Our external assessors and other advisors

All eligible applications will be considered by the Bursary Committee-including a family member (or a representative) of the late Eadbhard O’Callaghan; an external assessor; a mental health care professional in psychosis.

3.  The Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Provinical and Council

Recommendations are sent to the Saint John of God Hospitaller Services Provincial and Council for approval.

Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview with the Bursary Committee.

If you are awarded a bursary you will receive correspondence indicating the amount awarded and any conditions associated with the offer of support.
Announcement of the Award will take place at the Annual Saint John of God Research and Evaluation Study Day on 18th November, 2014 and will be publicised on this website.  The decision of the Bursary Committee is final.
